Snow and Ice Program Frequently Asked Questions

My street has not yet been plowed, who do I call?
If it is not an emergency, please be patient.  Your street will be plowed as quickly as possible.  Available plows must first clear all of the main roads before they begin the residential streets.  If there is an emergency situation call the Highway Department at 508-892-7021.  Remember, Leicester has approx. 100 miles of roads to plow.

I have a fire hydrant in front of my house, whose responsibility is it to shovel snow from it?
Any fire hydrant that is located in front of a dwelling or business is the responsibility of the property owner to keep clear.  The Highway Department does not shovel out fire hydrants.

Is there any sand available for the residents of Leicester to get for their property?
Yes, sand and salt mixture is usually available next to the salt shed located at the Highway Department for the residents of Leicester.  Please limit the use of this sand mixture.  This is not for businesses, Town residents only.
