The Planning Department provides a wide range of services and supports the Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, and Conservation Commission.

Mission
The Planning Board reviews applications for approvals under the Zoning Bylaw and Subdivision Regulations. This includes Site Plan Review and/or Special Permits for commercial developments, Subdivision Approvals, and endorsement of ANR Plans (plans depicting new lot lines on existing streets). The Planning Board is also responsible for long-range land use planning for Town of Leicester, including implementation of the Leicester Master Plan.

Planning Board members and staff are committed to serving the needs of the public. To accommodate those who can't visit during regular office hours, most Planning Board information is available by phone, mail, or email. 

Regular members of the Planning Board are elected to 3 year terms.  The Associate member is appointed annually by the Planning Board.

Planning Board Opening!

The Leicester Planning Board  currently is currently seeking an Associate Member.
 

In accordance with Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 40A, Section 9, the Planning Board, acting as Special Permit Granting Authority, is authorized to appoint one Associate Member for the purpose of acting on special permit applications.

Designated by the Chair, the Associate Member acts on special permit cases in the absence, inability to act, or conflict of interest on the part of any member of the Board, or in the event of a vacancy. The Associate Member is appointed by majority vote of the Planning Board and serve a one-year term.

Planning Board meetings are held at 7pm on the first and third Tuesdays of the month.
