Cemetery & Veteran Squares

The Leicester Department of Public Works is responsible for the maintenance and care of approximately 4 acres of grounds at the Cherry Valley Cemetery located on Towtaid Street and the Veteran Squares throughout the Town.

The specific functions include:

• Laying out burial lots, preparing lots for burial, and coordinating and assisting in burials.
• Maintaining and improving the grounds at Cherry Valley Cemetery and Veterans Squares.
• Conducting seasonal maintenance, including mowing grass, fertilizing and aerating grounds, pruning trees, and completing spring and fall cleanup of grounds.
• Installing foundations and repairing and maintaining gravesites.
• Selling burial lots and maintaining cemetery records.
