COVID-19 Department Operations
Staff are in the office full-time. The public should continue to use email, phone, and virtual meetings whenever possible. Board Meetings will be held using remote-participation options. All Planning Board applications should be submitted by email to [email protected] with required paper copies and fees mailed to: Leicester Town Hall, Attn: Planning Board, 3 Washburn Square, Leicester, MA 01524. Although items may be dropped off in the tax collection box at Town Hall, most Planning Board applications won't fit in the box. Department staff will file applications with the Town Clerk where required. Staff will not meet you at the door for plan dropoffs.
The Planning Board is part of the Office of Development & Inspectional Services. Click HERE to email the Planning Department.
If you would like to be on the Planning Board's agenda, please contact the Planning Board Office. Our agenda closes the Wednesday prior to each meeting at 12:00 Noon. ANR plans must also be received in the Planning Office by the Wednesday deadline.
The Planning Board reviews applications for approvals under the Zoning Bylaw and Subdivision Regulations. This includes Site Plan Review and/or Special Permits for commercial developments, Subdivision Approvals, and endorsement of ANR Plans (plans depicting new lot lines on existing streets). The Planning Board is also responsible for long-range land use planning for Town of Leicester, including implementation of the Leicester Master Plan.
Planning Board members and staff are committed to serving the needs of the public. To accommodate those who can't visit during regular office hours, most Planning Board information is available by phone, mail, or email.
Regular members of the Planning Board are elected to 3 year terms. The Associate member is appointed annually by the Planning Board.
