COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Plan Information

Coronavirus vaccine image

The Town of Leicester is monitoring the availability of COVID-19 vaccines and preparing for the eventual vaccination of the general public.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health is charged with determining the distribution plan for the vaccine.

The Town is updating dispensing plans for vaccination of residents to ensure that doses of the vaccine are given quickly and efficiently when they arrive in Leicester.

At this time, local health departments will only be involved with vaccinating the general public in Phase 3 of the State’s distribution plan, but that is subject to change.

Anticipated Vaccine Distribution Timeline
NOTE: Most of the vaccinations taking place in Phases 1 and 2 will be done through medical and long-term care facilities, with minimal involvement at the municipal level.
