Activities

Tennis Program
Here is an activity that our town’s youths can enjoy. This program begins in June with sign-ups happening in the spring. The program will teach basic tennis skills in an activity oriented format. Experience is not necessary, all skill levels are welcome. There is a small fee for this program.  

Basketball
The Town of Leicester Parks and Recreation Committee provide for our youths that are in grades 3 through grade 8, an opportunity to learn and play the great sport of basketball. Experience is not necessary.  Boys and girls welcomed. These games are played at a variety of locations throughout Town, such as the Town Hall Auditorium and the Middle School gym.  Sign-ups are in October and season runs from the beginning of December through Mid-March.  There is a small fee for this program.

Volleyball
Leicester Parks & Rec have recently renovated the sand volleyball court at Rochdale Park.  Anyone interested in running a league or booking court time is encouraged to call (508) 892-7058. 

Recreational Handball 
Come out and learn to play 1Wall Handball at Towtaid Park.  It is fun and the rules are simple. Strike the ball with your hand before it bounces a second time and hit it back to the front wall. Stay fit: Handball is rated the best workout for cardio, strength, and flexibility while playing the game. Handball is a challenge for everyone- It is an equalizer sport.  Handball is a game you can play for life for ages 9 to 80+.  Youth Handball Clinics are FREE for ages 10 to 17-Date and Time will be announced. Recreational Pickleball 
Come out and learn to play Pickleball at Towtaid Park. Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong using a paddle and a plastic ball with holes. It is a game that is appropriate for players of all ages and skill levels. Rules for pickleball are simple. It can also be quite challenging, fast- paced, and competitive game when become more experienced at playing. All you need to bring is your portable pickleball net, wooden paddles, and pickleballs to play Pick-Up Pickleball Games with your friends and family members. Contact Nancy Ortiz at 1-508-574-1526 for Pick-Up Pickleball Games. 

Field Trips
The Town of Leicester Parks and Recreation Committee provide for the Town residents an opportunity to go a variety of field trips on a luxury bus for a minimal fee. The fee depends on the trip destination. Destinations in the past have been to the Paw Sox games in Pawtucket, a New York City bus trip, Hampton Beach and Foxwoods Casino.  Suggestions are always welcome.  These trips are non-chaperoned.  An adult must accompany any child.  

Harvest Fair
The Harvest Fair happens the 3rd Saturday of September on the Leicester Town Common.  Parks & Rec participates by sponsoring a food and beverage tent.  All proceeds go towards enhancing community events.

Toll Road
Parks & Rec holds a toll road yearly and all proceeds go towards supplementing events and programs.

Golf
Parks & Rec is looking for a person to run an instructional golf program over the summer months.  A fee can be negotiated.  Please contact the secretary at (508) 892-7058 if interested.

Earth Day
Leicester Parks & Rec sponsors a yearly Earth Day Clean Up which is being held this year on Sunday, April 22nd.  Please call (508) 892-7058 if interested in volunteering.

Christmas Party
Leicester Parks & Rec puts on a yearly Christmas Party for the children of Leicester.  Food and drinks are provided as well as a visit from Santa Claus.

Ronald Tarentino Jr. Memorial Playground
Events are currently being held to raise money for the implementation and upkeep of a playground at Community Field in honor of Officer Tarentino.  Look for updates on the website and on LCAC.
