Open Burning Information

The Town of Leicester open air burning season is from January 15th until May 1st. Permits may be obtained starting January 2nd by using one of the 3 options listed below. All brush piles may be inspected by the Fire Department at any time after the permit has been issued. A permit fee is $15.00 and is good for the duration of the burning season. A list of rules and regulations will be given at the time of inspection and permit being issued.

NOTE: Open burning begins at 10:00 a.m. All fires shall be extinguished by 4:00 p.m. Firefighters will conduct spot checks during burning season. The Fire Chiefs reserve the right to deny open burning on any day due to weather or environmental conditions.

OBTAINING A PERMIT FOR OPEN BURNING:
1. Online application and payment: Click here to pay online.  

2. Print application from attachment and mail it in with payment.

3. Come to Headquarters at 3 Paxton St. Applications and envelopes are available at the front door. Fill out application with payment and leave in the mailbox.
