The Town of Leicester open air burning season is from January 15th until May 1st. Permits may be obtained by calling the Fire Deptartment business office at 508-892-7022. All brush piles must be inspected by the Fire Department prior to any burning is done and permit issued. A permit fee is $15.00 and is good for the duration of the burning season. A list of rules and regulations will be given at the time of inspection and permit being issued.
NOTE: Open burning begins at 10:00 a.m. All fires shall be extinguished by 4:00 p.m. Firefighters will conduct spot checks during burning season. The Fire Chiefs reserve the right to deny open burning on any day due to weather or environmental conditions.
OBTAINING A PERMIT FOR OPEN BURNING:
1. Apply for a permit at Fire Headquarters between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Administration Division will assist you in purchasing a permit.
