LHS FOOTBALL ALUMNI 2009-2010
The LHS Football Alumni was formed in the fall of 2004. Presently our membership stands at 246. Our purpose is to promote the Leicester football program. Our members are former Leicester High football players (only had to play one year), coaches and anyone who has helped the football team such as announcers, managers, scouts, etc. Anyone fitting the above criteria and are not receiving mail from us please contact Bob Carney at 508-892-4998 and leave your name and address or email him at dadcarney@aol.com. We acquire addresses through contact and friends. We do not have a school master list. Step forward and be counted.
The following
events of interest are scheduled for 2009. Please mark the dates on your
calendar.
1.
Football Alumni Golf Tournament will
be at Hillcrest CC on Saturday September 19. There will be one shotgun start
at 9:00AM. Teams are allowed five players and will be a Florida style or
scrambles format. Everyone hits from the best shot by a player in your group.
There will be a steak dinner after golf at Hillcrest CC cooked by alumni
players. Anyone wishing to buy a ticket to the steak dinner please call Bob
Carney for a reservation for dinner in advance of September 19. We usually
purchase the steak strips the Friday before the tournament. Some players were
met by their wives after golf and requested to purchase a steak dinner. Those
that don’t make reservations will have to wait until everyone eats and we see
if there are any steaks left over. Team prizes will follow the dinner.
2. September 19 at approximately 3:30 to 4:00PM (After the golf tournament) there will be a raffle. The football alumni who don’t golf and the public is invited to participate. The raffle will be by tickets picked from a container. Most prizes are donated and range from $ 100 cash to golf for four at Falmouth CC on Cape Cod. Anyone wishing to donate a raffle prize call Bob Carney at 508-892-4998. Dinner gift certificates or any gift certificates are welcome.
3. “Outstanding Player Award” will be awarded at the Leicester/Tantasqua Regional game on October 3. This game is slated to be played at the Becker College Football Field On Saturday night at 7:00 PM. All Alumni are asked to attend this game and bring members of your old team. There will be a table set up to distribute ballots. Just go to the table (can’t miss us there will be a sign) and give your name. If you haven't registered with us then give your mailing address and receive a ballot. Ballots are to be back at the registration table five minutes before the end of the game or when you leave if it is earlier. Cancelled game will be played Sunday at 1:00. Those awarded the “Outstanding Player Award” not only receive a fine trophy but also will have their names engraved on a wall plaque that is on the wall of awards for all teams and players at the high school.
4. 50/50 raffle will be on Thanksgiving November 26 at approximately 1:00 at Hillcrest CC. All alumni registered with us will receive two tickets with their letter. Anyone who thinks they can sell a few tickets call Bob Carney 508-892-4998 and I’ll send you a few.

In May of 2010 we will be awarding a $ 500 scholarship. This award was
started in the spring of 2006:

Those that are awarded the scholarship will have their names engraved on a wall plaque that is hung on a wall in the high school library.
Anyone wishing to help out will be welcomed. The committee meets approximately 4 times a year. Most of the work is at the golf tournament. We can use help from alumni who don’t golf.
