    These web pages have been developed for the residents of the Town of Leicester and others interested in the development and implementation of Leicester's Master Plan Update. Use the links above to get more detailed information about the Plan and its development process.

     

    The Town of Leicester completed an update to the Town’s 2000 Master Plan in June 2009.  The 2009 Leicester Master Plan was adopted by the Leicester Planning Board on July 7, 2009. A Master Plan is a comprehensive plan to guide future development of a community over the next 10-20 years, and

    • includes assessments of existing resources and issues, projections of future conditions and needs, and consideration of collective goals and desires
    • helps to translate the community's values and goals into specific actions
    • is closely integrated with other Town planning documents and initiatives, for example in Leicester: the 2007 Open Space & Recreation Plan, 2008 Route 9 Corridor Study, and 2007 Leicester Reconnaissance Report on Heritage Landscapes.

    The Leicester Master Plan contains chapters addressing the following major subject areas:

    ·        Facilities & Services

    ·        Economic Development

    ·        Natural & Historic Resource
    ·        Transportation  ·        Land Use

    ·        Implementation

     

    In addition, there is an Implementation Chapter that will provide a comprehensive list of all recommendations, and identify priorities and responsible parties.
