The Mothers' Club announces the sale of their newest newest Cat's Meow piece.

The Mothers’ Club would like to announce the arrival of their latest Cat’s Meow, Michael and Roberta Antanavica’s house. It was built on the corner of Pine and Main Street in the late 1860’s by Joseph Murdock who owned the J&J Murdock Card Clothing mill across the street. It was called the Murdock Mansion and later was used as the rectory for the adjacent St. Pius Church.  The Antanavicas bought it in 1994 and have restored it to its original elegance. This beautiful piece will be available at the Apple Festival on October 15th at the Leicester High School from 10 until 3. It can also be purchased by contacting Linda Rowden at 892-3801 or by visiting Yesteryears, 1077 Main St (next to Dunkin Donuts)  Their hours are Thur. and  Fri. 12 – 5, Sat. 10 -4 and Sun. 12-4. The price of the Cat’s Meow is $20

Leicester Mothers’ Club

Supporting the Schoolchildren of Leicester

The Leicester Mothers’ Club is an all-volunteer organization whose members include parents, grandparents, and guardians of children in the public school system - past or present, and other community volunteers who are concerned with the well-being of the children and youth in Leicester.

The Leicester Mothers’ Club has been in service to the community since 1945 working with the school department to provide support to the Leicester Public Schools. Our organization assists at the schools by providing volunteers at various functions such as the Kindergarten Open House and Parent/Teacher Conferences. The Club also plans and coordinates grass-roots fundraisers to generate money that is distributed to the schools for supplies, transportation for field trips, and programs; and is awarded to graduating seniors for college scholarships.  We have given out nearly $28,000 to the schools and $5,000 to first-year college students over the last two years alone!

Fundraisers

The Leicester Mothers’ Club plans a variety of special events and fundraisers each year.  Ongoing projects include selling items Cat’s Meow Leicester School replicas, Mothers’ Club cookbooks and hand-crafted, bead jewelry in our school colors.

We are also currently raising money through two on-line initiatives.  The Club has partnered with two companies, receiving a percentage of the profits from purchases made.  Please help us to ‘spread the word’. They are:

  • Genevieve’s – an online resource for high quality wrapping paper and small gift items.  To participate, go to www.genevieves.com , click on shop and enter 847 when prompted to assign credit.
  • Stuck On You – an online selection of personalized labels for children’s clothing and accessories.  To purchase, go to www.stuckonyou.biz and type in Leicester Mothers’ Club in the school fundraiser name.

Anyone can attend our meetings, but you must be a paid member in order to vote on any business or funding issues.   If you have any questions, contact our Club President, Deb D’Agostino at (508) 892-9116.
