Is a Private Organization
and is Privately Funded

The purpose of the organization is "to acquire, preserve and protect historical and antiquarian documents, relics and valuables pertaining to the history of Leicester.  To have historical objects and to promote research and learning to better inform ourselves and our community of our general heritage. "The Historical Society activity collects and archaically preserves items for the future.  With an active archival committee and an archivist, we welcome all donations to help preserve Leicester's past.

The Leicester Historical Society meets the third Monday of each month (except December, June, July and August).
at the Leicester Senior Center, 40 Winslow St., Leicester Ma.
The meeting will be at the usual time of  7:00pm with refreshments served after.

Health, Herbs and Horrors, a presentation by Pat Perry
What did people do before physicians, pharmacies and penicillin?
We can touch and smell some of the medical miracles of their day.
We peek into the highlights and horrors of dealing with the disease through the ages.

The Historic Mills of Leicester as told by Larry Todd
Take a tour of the various mills and hear how they effected the town and it's people,
in a powerpoint presentation by our very own Larry Todd. Sure to be interesting.

13TH ANNUAL TREE LIGHTING & CAROLING ON THE COMMON
followed by caroling in the Congregational Church with the
Leicester Bandstand and Congregational Music Committees

Stage Coaches and Coach Horns of New England

Come hear the horns and lore of a romantic mode of transportation from bygone days.
This presentation is by Grace Yaglou of the Rutland Historical Society

a slide show by Christie Higginbottom

Wander back through time to the kitchen gardens used by our ancestors and hear and see how things were done then.

Annual Meeting and Banquet with guest Al Southwick of the Worcester Telegram.
Mr Southwick will tell us tales of the history of leicester, massachusetts and maybe even more.
