PURPOSE:
Establish and maintain a fellowship of Christian churches and ecclesiae communities in the Town of Leicester; and to develop an ecumenical joint ministry, to be of service to the community, through shared prayer services, dialogue, ecumenical advocacy, evangelism and social mission which are the marks of a truly ecumenical body toward which we strive.
OUTREACH PROGRAMS:
F.I.S.H.
A group of volunteers who drive patients to and from doctor appointments for those who have no other means of transportation. When you don’t know where to turn, call FISH.
CROP WALK
Crop Walk is a joyous ten kilometer walk in which participants solicit sponsors to pledge money that will be used to help feed hungry people, both in the community and around the world. This is a constructive event in which walkers and sponsors are declaring their concern as well as acting on it.
EMERGENCY VOUCHERS
This includes an acute short-term program directed toward neighbors helping neighbors passing through a crisis period and in need of food and/or vehicle fuel. This program is available for all residents of Leicester and parishioners of the Leicester Churches. If you feel a need or know of someone, call one of the clergy of the member churches.
Members and friends of the Leicester Ecumenical Council meet monthly on the 2nd Tuesday, (except in July, August and December), to share in devotions, organize functions, and handle business. Our June meeting is an annual picnic of fun and sharing of our faith. We also march in parades with our banner and attend individual church functions throughout the year.
